Hillside stone steps and fire pit

A sloped side yard, now planted, lit and tied together with natural stone.

Natural stone steps climb the slope from the lawn to the deck, with the beds on either side shaped to follow the grade.

Planting

Shrubs, ornamental grasses and young trees are set into fresh pine straw across the slope, with a clean, curving edge where the beds meet the lawn.

Fire pit and lighting

At the foot of the steps, a gravel patio edged with boulders holds a round fire pit, and low path lights mark the steps and the patio edge after dark.
